A new wine is the 2014 G2 Vineyard, which comes from a site just to the southeast of James Berry. Previously called Gravity Hills vineyard, it was planted in the late 1990s by a Napa estate and is a south-facing slope planted with Mourvèdre at the top and Grenache at the bottom. It was recently purchased by the owner of the Heartstone vineyard and this is Justin’s first time working with the fruit. The 2014 will be a rough blend of 55% Mourvèdre and 45% Grenache (harvested separately) that saw 40% whole clusters and a year in puncheons before moving to foudre. It offers a full-bodied, rich and concentrated style, with lots of tannin as well as caramelized black cherry fruit, lots of dried herbs and flowers and hints of earth. This will be good.
Stored in a climate controlled cellar on its side in the dark at 55 degrees F and 75% humidity since purchase.
Fill Level: Mid Neck
